3.2 Professional Account (“Professional Accounts”)
(a) Professional Account Designation and Features
Carousell offers a "Professional Account" classification designed for users engaging in professional selling activities. Based on your Account activities and usage patterns on the Platform, Carousell may at its discretion, classify your Account as a professional account. For details regarding the activities which when conducted will classify your Account as a Professional Account, applicable fees and the enhanced Professional Account tools available, please refer here. Professional Accounts:
- are designed for users engaging in ongoing or business-oriented or professional selling activities;
- provide access to specific tools and functionalities, which may include both free features and paid features.
Once designated as a Professional Account, your use of the Platform under this classification will be governed by these Professional Account Terms. While the Professional Account itself is free to maintain, it may be subject to specific fees as outlined below. This includes the potential applicability of transaction-dependent Service Fees (detailed in sub-section (b) below) and any terms associated with additional paid features you choose to utilise.
(b) Professional Account Service Fees
Applicability & Thresholds: Professional Accounts may be subject to a service fee (“Professional Account Service Fee”) based on the Account’s estimated transaction value within a billing period (typically monthly). Professional Account Service Fees apply when the Estimated Transaction Value (as defined in sub-clause (c) below) exceeds certain thresholds (“Thresholds”) specific to the Account's primary operating region (e.g., Singapore, Hong Kong, Philippines). For the purpose of assessing whether the Threshold is met for Professional Account Service Fees to be applicable, the value of all transactions facilitated through the Platform, including those processed through Buyer Protection, will be considered. For more details regarding the current Thresholds that trigger Service Fees, please refer here (“Professional Account Fee Schedule”). These thresholds are subject to change by Carousell from time to time. The prevailing thresholds listed in the Professional Account Fee Schedule at the time of billing will apply.
- Calculation & Fee Percentage: The Service Fee shall be calculated as a percentage of the Estimated Transaction Value generated via the Platform during the relevant billing period, on the total estimated transaction value, subject to the exclusions in sub-clause d below. For details regarding the current applicable chargeable percentage, please refer to the Professional Account Fee Schedule here. This percentage is subject to change by Carousell from time to time. The prevailing percentage(s) listed in the Professional Account Fee Schedule at the time of billing will apply.
- Professional Account Service Fees (and applicable payment processing fees, if any) may be levied on the Estimated Transaction Value arising from the use of the Platform through your Professional Account, according to the prevailing rates and thresholds specified in the Professional Account Fee Schedule. This applies regardless of whether a transaction initiated or facilitated via the Platform is ultimately concluded off-platform, or is subsequently refunded, cancelled, or disputed. These Professional Account Service Fees are distinct from any charges for additional paid features.
(c) Estimation of Transaction Value ("Estimated Transaction Value")
Carousell estimates the total value of transactions facilitated through the Platform using proprietary methods, which include:
- On-Platform Communication Analysis: An automated analysis, potentially utilising artificial intelligence and algorithms, of communications (e.g., chats) between sellers and buyers conducted via the Platform to estimate transaction occurrences and values based on the information exchanged.
- Off-Platform Lead Estimation: If communications indicate a likely transaction has been moved off-platform (e.g., sharing contact details to conclude the deal elsewhere), Carousell may estimate the transaction value based on an assessment of the conversion likelihood and potential value of such off-platform leads originating from the Platform.
(d) Exclusions from Professional Accounts Service Fee Calculation
While transactions completed through Buyer Protection are included when determining if the Threshold is met, they are not subject to the Professional Accounts Service Fee.
(e) Exemptions from Professional Account Service Fees
Notwithstanding the Professional Account Service Fee applicability described in sub-clause 3.2(b), Professional Account Service Fees shall not apply to Professional Accounts listed in the Professional Account Service Fee Exemption Schedule here.
(f) Discounts and Offsets (Applicable to Professional Account Service Fee)
Subject to Carousell’s prevailing terms and conditions:
- CarouBiz Discount: Professional Accounts subscribed to a CarouBiz subscription may be eligible for a discount on their Professional Account Service Fees.
- Spend Offset: Any amounts spent by the Professional Account holder on purchasing Carousell Coins and/or subscribing to CarouBiz subscription during a given billing period may be deducted from the calculated Professional Account Service Fees payable for that same period.
Any applicable specific discount rate or deductible amount shall be detailed in the Professional Account Fee Schedule or CarouBiz subscription terms.

In addition, each category has its unique demand for views and placing a listing in Spotlight in more popular categories will cost more; and

9A. Live Auctions and Live Shows
Carousell offers a live video auction feature (the “Livestreaming Feature”) through which sellers may host live shows and conduct real-time auctions of items listed on the Platform. The following terms apply to all users who access, host, or participate in the Livestreaming Feature.
9A.1 Definitions
In this Section 9A, the following terms have the meanings given to them below:
“Auction” or “Live Auction” means a real-time online auction conducted by a Host during a Live Show, in which one or more Lots are offered for sale to the highest Bidder within a specified time period using the Livestreaming Feature.
“Bid” means an offer to purchase a Lot at a stated price, placed by a Bidder during a Live Auction through the Carousell platform.
“Bidder” means a registered Carousell user who places a Bid during a Live Auction.
“Host” or ‘Streamer” means a registered Carousell seller who conducts a Live Show using the Livestreaming Feature.
“Live Show” means a real-time video broadcast conducted by a Host on the Carousell platform during which one or more Live Auctions may be held.
“Lot” means a specific item or group of items offered by a Host as a single unit for sale in a Live Auction.
“Reserve Price” means the minimum price at which a Host is prepared to sell a Lot. The Reserve Price may or may not be disclosed to Bidders.
“Starting Price” means the minimum Bid price for a Lot as set by the Host at the commencement of the auction for that Lot.
“Winning Bid” means the highest valid Bid recorded at the close of a Lot’s auction period, resulting in a binding obligation to purchase that Lot.
9A.2 Eligibility to Participate
To participate in a Live Auction as a Bidder, a user must: (a) hold a valid and active Carousell Account; (b) enter valid payment or card details on the Carousell platform before placing any Bid; and (c) comply with any eligibility requirements that Carousell may specify from time to time.
To conduct a Live Show as a Host, a user must: (a) hold a valid and active Carousell seller Account; (b) be duly authorised to list and sell the items they intend to offer; (c) meet any eligibility criteria and onboarding requirements that Carousell specifies; and (d) agree to these Terms and any supplementary guidelines for Hosts published by Carousell.
Users who have been suspended, restricted, or banned from the Platform may not participate in Live Auctions as a Host or Bidder during the period of such suspension, restriction, or ban. Carousell reserves the right to limit, restrict, or revoke eligibility to use the Livestreaming Feature at any time, at its sole discretion.
9A.3 How Live Auctions Work
A Live Show consists of one or more consecutive Lots offered for sale by the Host. For each Lot, the Host sets a Starting Price (and, at the Host’s discretion, a Reserve Price) and a fixed auction duration. Bidders may place Bids during this period.
At the close of the auction period for each Lot, the Bidder with the highest valid Bid is the winning Bidder for that Lot, subject to the Reserve Price provisions set out below.
If the Host has set a Reserve Price and the highest Bid at close does not meet or exceed it, Carousell reserves the right (in consultation with the Host) to treat the Lot as unsold. In that event, no purchase obligation arises for any Bidder on that Lot.
The auction clock for each Lot is managed server-side by Carousell’s platform systems and is authoritative. Client-side display times may vary due to network conditions and do not affect the official close time of a Lot.
Carousell does not guarantee any minimum number of Lots, Bidders, or Live Shows. The availability of the Livestreaming Feature is subject to Carousell’s platform capacity and the availability of third-party video infrastructure services.
9A.4 Binding Bids
All bids placed in a live auction are legally binding. By placing a Bid, a Bidder makes a binding offer to purchase the relevant Lot at the stated Bid price. A Bid cannot be retracted once submitted.
If a Bidder’s Bid is the Winning Bid at the close of a Lot, that Bidder is contractually obligated to purchase that Lot at the Winning Bid price, subject to the Reserve Price and payment provisions of this Section 9A.
Users should only place Bids for items they are genuinely prepared to purchase. Users who repeatedly place Winning Bids without completing payment may have their access to the Livestreaming Feature suspended or permanently removed.
Carousell is not a party to the sale contract formed between the Host and the winning Bidder. Carousell acts solely as a platform intermediary facilitating the transaction. The binding sale contract is between the Host (as seller) and the winning Bidder (as buyer).
9A.5 Payment
By placing a Bid, a Bidder authorises Carousell to place a hold on the payment or card details entered by the Bidder for the amount of their Bid. This hold will be released if the Bidder does not win the Lot.
Upon a Bidder winning a Lot, the Winning Bid amount will be automatically charged to the payment details provided by the Bidder. Payment will be processed through Carousell’s standard payment infrastructure.
If a Bidder’s payment details are invalid or payment cannot be processed for any reason, Carousell may: (a) cancel the transaction and make the Lot available for re-sale by the Host; (b) suspend or restrict the Bidder’s access to the Livestreaming Feature; and/or (c) take such other action as Carousell deems appropriate.
All prices in Live Auctions are quoted and payable in the currency applicable to the user’s jurisdiction, unless otherwise stated. Applicable taxes, Platform fees, and delivery charges (if and as applicable) will be disclosed at checkout.
Except as provided under the Buyer Protection policy (Section 10) or as required by applicable law, completed purchases made by a winning Bidder are final and non-refundable. Requests for post-win cancellation are subject to clause 9A.7(c) below.
9A.6 Host (Seller) Obligations
A Host must ensure that all items offered as Lots are: (a) accurately and honestly described; (b) in the condition represented and available for sale at the time of the Live Show; (c) lawfully owned by the Host and available for sale; and (d) compliant with Carousell’s listing rules, prohibited items policy, and all applicable laws.
During a Live Show, a Host must: (a) clearly show and describe each Lot before or during the auction for that Lot; (b) disclose any material defects, damage, or limitations; and (c) conduct auctions in a fair and transparent manner.
A Host must not engage in any of the following prohibited conduct during a Live Show:
shill bidding (placing Bids on their own Lots, directly or indirectly through another person, to artificially inflate prices);
offering items for which they do not have clear title or the right to sell;
offering counterfeit, unlicensed, or prohibited items;
making false or misleading representations about any Lot or its value, condition, provenance, or availability;
conducting or soliciting off-Platform transactions in connection with items shown in a Live Show;
sharing personal contact details of Bidders or other viewers without their consent; or
engaging in conduct that violates Carousell’s Community Guidelines.
A Host is solely responsible for fulfilling orders arising from their Live Auctions in accordance with clause 9A.8 below.
9A.7 Buyer Obligations
A Bidder must: (a) ensure their payment details entered on the Carousell platform are valid and have sufficient funds or credit available at the time of bidding; (b) only place Bids for items they genuinely intend to purchase; and (c) complete all purchases arising from Winning Bids in accordance with these Terms.
A Bidder must not: (a) place Bids with no genuine intent to purchase (“dummy bids”); (b) collude with a Host or other Bidders to manipulate auction outcomes; or (c) use any automated tool, bot, or script to place Bids.
Buyer Protection under Section 10 may apply to purchases made through a Live Auction, subject to the terms and limitations of the Buyer Protection policy.
9A.8 Order Fulfilment
Orders arising from a Live Auction will be processed through Carousell’s standard order management system. Upon a Winning Bid being confirmed and payment processed, the Host will receive the order details for fulfilment.
At the time of participating in a Live Auction, Bidders will be prompted to select a fulfilment method: (a) self-collection from the Host at an agreed location and time; or (b) delivery via Carousell’s available delivery services, subject to Carousell’s prevailing delivery terms and charges.
Hosts must fulfil each order (by shipping or making the item available for collection) within the timeframe specified in Carousell’s prevailing seller fulfilment guidelines. Failure to fulfil within the required timeframe may, at Carousell’s sole discretion, result in order cancellation, a refund to the Bidder, and suspension or removal of the Host’s access to the Livestreaming Feature.
Disputes relating to items not received, items not as described, or fulfilment failures arising from Live Auction purchases are subject to the standard Carousell dispute resolution process under Section 17 and the Buyer Protection policy under Section 10.
9A.9 Live Chat and Viewer Interaction
During a Live Show, viewers may interact via a live chat function. All chat messages are visible to other viewers and the Host and constitute Content for the purposes of Section 8 of these Terms.
Users must not use the live chat to: (a) post content that is abusive, harassing, offensive, threatening, or defamatory; (b) share personal information of others without their consent; (c) post spam or unsolicited promotional content; or (d) share links to third-party platforms, external payment channels, or off-Platform transaction routes.
Carousell may mute, remove, or ban users from a Live Show at any time where their conduct violates these Terms or Carousell’s Community Guidelines. Such actions may be taken in real time and without prior notice to the relevant user.
9A.10 Content Standards; Third-Party Infrastructure; Recording
All content transmitted during a Live Show (including video streams, audio, live chat, items shown, and overlays) constitutes Content for the purposes of Section 8 and must comply with these Terms, Carousell’s Community Guidelines, and all applicable laws.
Hosts must not broadcast content that: (a) is illegal under applicable law; (b) infringes any third party’s intellectual property rights; (c) is obscene, indecent, or sexually explicit; (d) promotes or glorifies self-harm, violence, or illegal activity; or (e) contains private or personal data of any individual without their explicit consent.
By using the Livestreaming Feature, you represent and warrant that: (a) you are the creator and owner of the content you transmit, or have all necessary licences, rights, consents, and permissions to transmit it; (b) your content does not and will not infringe any intellectual property right, privacy right, or other right of any third party; (c) your content does not and will not defame or harass any person; and (d) your content is not objectionable, indecent, obscene, pornographic, or hateful.
Where applicable law requires that all participants in a recorded communication be notified of or consent to the recording, you are responsible for ensuring that such notification and consent has been obtained before the recording takes place.
9A.11 Acceptable Use of the Livestreaming Feature
In addition to the prohibited conduct set out in Section 2 of these Terms, when using the Livestreaming Feature, you must not:
attempt to circumvent, disable, or interfere with the security features, access controls, or technical operation of the Livestreaming Feature or the underlying video infrastructure;
use any automated programme, script, bot, or tool to interact with the Livestreaming Feature other than through Carousell’s official interface;
attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or modify the underlying video infrastructure in any manner;
conduct any activity that fraudulently or artificially inflates usage, traffic, or engagement on the Livestreaming Feature;
use the Livestreaming Feature in connection with any item or transaction that is subject to applicable trade sanctions, export restrictions, or embargo laws; or
transmit any content that would cause Carousell or any of its third-party service providers for the Livestreaming Feature (including Agora Lab, Inc.) to violate any applicable law, regulation, or acceptable use policy.
To the extent the Livestreaming Feature is powered by, or made available through, third-party services and infrastructure, you agree to comply with any applicable end-user restrictions, usage conditions and other requirements of those third-party services, including the following:
Agora Acceptable Use Policy (https://www.agora.io/en/acceptable-use-policy/)
Users acknowledge that the Livestreaming Feature and its underlying infrastructure may transmit communications over third-party networks which may, in part, be unencrypted. Carousell is not responsible for the interception of communications by third parties as a result of network transmission.
9A.12 Carousell’s Rights; Platform Intermediary Role
Carousell reserves the right to suspend, interrupt, terminate, or restrict any Live Show, in whole or in part, at any time and without prior notice, where Carousell determines in its reasonable discretion that: (a) the Live Show or any content transmitted during it violates these Terms, Carousell’s Community Guidelines, or applicable law; (b) the Live Show poses a legal, reputational, or operational risk to Carousell or its users; or (c) action is necessary to protect the integrity of the Livestreaming Feature or the Platform.

9A.13 Brand Owner Non-Affiliation
Unless expressly authorised by the relevant rights holder, any reference during a Live Show or Live Auction to a brand, trademark, trade name, product line, intellectual property, character, franchise, manufacturer, licensor, or other third-party rights holder is made solely by the Host. Neither Carousell nor any such third party sponsors, endorses, administers, approves of, authenticates, certifies, is affiliated with, or is otherwise involved in the relevant Live Show, Live Auction, Lot, listing, promotion, sale, or transaction.
For the avoidance of doubt, Carousell acts solely as a platform intermediary and does not verify, authenticate, certify, endorse, or guarantee the authenticity, provenance, ownership, condition, quality, legality, or fitness for purpose of any Lot offered during a Live Show or Live Auction.
