Our Commitment to Trade Compliance and Sanctions

To protect our community and create a trusted marketplace for everyone, Carousell is committed to complying with all applicable laws and regulations. This includes not only international trade sanctions but also global standards aimed at preventing financial crime, such as money laundering and terrorist financing.
Our policy is designed to align with the legal requirements in the jurisdictions where we operate, including the standards set by Singapore and the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
This policy applies to all users of the Carousell platform.
Prohibited Activities
To uphold our commitment to safety and integrity, all Carousell users are strictly prohibited from engaging in transactions that involve the following:
1. Trade Sanctions and Embargoes:
Sanctioned Individuals or Entities: Transactions involving individuals or entities designated on official sanctions lists.
Embargoed Countries or Regions: Shipping to or from, or involving individuals located in, countries or regions subject to comprehensive trade embargoes.
2. High-Risk Jurisdictions for Financial Crime:
The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) is a global body that identifies jurisdictions with weaknesses in their systems to prevent financial crime. To protect our users from these risks, we prohibit or restrict transactions involving individuals or entities from:
Jurisdictions identified by the FATF as High-Risk Jurisdictions in its black and grey lists. As of the date of this policy, this includes, but is not limited to: Iran, North Korea, and Myanmar.
Unsupported countries and region
Carousell is unable to support businesses involving certain regions due to local regulatory requirements, commercial partnerships, and/or other pertinent factors.
The following unexhaustive list contains the countries and regions that are not supported by Carousell:
- Cuba
- Iran
- North Korea
- Myanmar
How We Enforce This Policy
We employ a variety of measures to enforce this policy, including blocking access for users from prohibited locations and screening for listings and transactions that violate these restrictions, orders shipping to unsupported countries and regions are prohibited. Individuals and businesses within unsupported countries and regions are also prohibited from creating a Carousell account.
Users who attempt to circumvent these policies may have their listings removed and their accounts suspended or terminated. We encourage our community to report any listings that may violate this policy. Carousell is dedicated to maintaining the integrity of our platform and ensuring it is not used for illicit purposes.
Listings that reference unsupported countries in sanctioned jurisdictions may also be ineligible for the 'Buy' button.
