Account Enforcement Policy
At Carousell, we strive to maintain a trustworthy marketplace that is safe for every deal and fair for every user. To protect our community, we take action when users violate our Listing Rules, Community Guidelines or Terms of Service. Depending on how often rules are broken, actions may include warnings, account restrictions, or permanent bans.
Enforcement Levels
Warning - Listings may be removed or hidden. This is a gentle reminder to follow our Listing Rules.
Account Restriction - Repeated violations, such as listing issues or pending transaction disputes, may limit certain account features (e.g., posting, chat). For listing rule violations, you can resolve this by acknowledging the guidelines via the appeal button, or a restriction period may apply. We’ll notify you with instructions on how to appeal.
Account Suspension - Continued violations of Listing Rules, such as repeated prohibited items, behavioral issues, or duplicate listings, may result in a temporary suspension lasting weeks or months
Permanent Ban -Serious or repeated offenses, such as Listing Rule violations or pending transaction issues, may result in a permanent ban. Appeals are not possible in these cases.
Note: Enforcement actions vary by violation type. Please review our Community Guidelines and Listing Rules.
What should I do if this happens?
Check the Notification - Read the message from Carousell to see which policy was violated. You can find updates in your app or email (if notifications are enabled).
Learn the Rules - Review our Listing Rules, Community Guidelines or Terms of Service, to avoid repeating the violation.
Appeal if Needed - If you believe a warning or enforcement action was applied by mistake, contact Carousell Support and provide all relevant details. Guide here.
Tips to Avoid Enforcement Actions:
Only list items allowed on Carousell.
Be honest with descriptions, pricing, and photos.
Keep all transactions within Carousell.
Communicate respectfully and kindly with other users.
Treat warnings as reminders, not punishments -repeated violations may lead to stricter actions.
If you spot a user violating rules, please report it instead of creating a similar one.
