[Singapore] Service Fee Policy for Home Services
Starting 1 June 2026, a new service fee will apply to Home Services Professional Accounts that are not on a sales package. The fee is charged based on the leads you receive each month, with rates that vary by lead type and sub-category.
💡 If you sell in other categories (e.g.Fashion, Toys & Collectibles, Home & Living etc) please refer to our general Service general Service Fee Policy instead.
Who does this policy apply to?
This policy applies to all Professional Accounts listing in Home Services that are not on a sales package.
Even if you're exempt, you may still receive a service fee invoice. Don't worry — it'll be automatically waived on our end.
Note: Carousell reserves the right to update this policy and the applicable rates at any time. If you're affected, we'll notify you via email from the @thecarousell.com domain. We will never ask you for your password, payment details, or personal information over email. If you receive a suspicious email, do not respond or click any links — report it to us immediately.
How is the service fee calculated?
You'll be charged per lead, based on the lead type and your Home Services sub-category.

What counts as a "qualified chat"?
A qualified chat is when there are at least 3 back-and-forth messages between you and a buyer (buyer → seller → buyer) through one of your Home Services listings. One-off enquiries that don't get a reply, or buyer messages with no follow-up, won't count.
💬 About chats and WhatsApp button leads
Service fees are charged based on leads received —regardless if a transaction eventually took place. As these fees are charged for generating leads, qualified chat and outbound chat service fees aren’t eligible for dispute.
Will I be charged twice if a buyer reaches me through different methods?
No. Only one service fee applies per unique buyer each month — the highest applicable fee among the methods used.
What if the same user contacts me through different listings or methods?
Only one service fee applies per unique user each month, based on the highest applicable fee.
Example: User A sends a Chat inquiry through Listing 1, clicks your WhatsApp button on Listing 2, and views your contact details — all in the same month. You'll only be charged for 1 lead (the qualified chat, since it has the highest fee).
When are invoices issued?
Invoices are issued by the 15th of each month, covering qualified chat leads (including outbound chats) from the previous month. You can view your invoice under the Insights tab on your profile page.
For example:
- Qualified chats detected in June will be invoiced by 15 July
Once your updated invoice is ready, you'll be able to, download the invoice and fee breakdown
How do I make payment if I am affected?
To make payment, go to Insights > Estimated revenue, then look for Last Month's revenue.
If you have payment due, tap the arrow to go to the payment page.
You can pay using:
- Visa
- Mastercard
- PayNow

How to reduce your service fee
Your total monthly service fee can be offset by your spend on Carousell in the same month, including:
- Coins spent on seller tools (Bumps, Spotlight, Shoutout) and quotas
- CarouBiz subscription
- Bumps purchased via card payment

Want to be fully exempt?
Sellers on a sales package are fully exempt from service fees, no matter how many leads they receive. You'll also unlock:

What happens if I don't pay the service fee?
If payment is not made by the due date, the following restrictions will apply:
❌ Your listings will be set to inactive
❌ You won’t be able to create new listings or mark listings as active

If your account is restricted because of unpaid service fees, the restriction will be lifted immediately once payment is made.
*Prohibited Conduct: Requesting Removal of Transaction Details from Chats
To ensure transparency and uphold the integrity of Carousell's service fee policy, sellers are strictly prohibited from requesting buyers to delete or remove transaction details from chats.
Such actions shall be construed an attempt to circumvent Carousell's service fee policy.
Failure to adhere may result in enforcement actions taken against your account, including, but not limited to, a temporary suspension of your selling activities.
