Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in recruitment process
1. Applicant screening
Some of our third party service providers rely on Artificial Intelligence (AI) to screen job applicants. AI is used to efficiently review a large volume of applications and identify candidates whose skills and experience best align with the requirements of our roles. Recruitment platforms (such as SmartRecruiters) also apply profiling techniques, including resume parsing, semantic matching, and weighted scoring algorithms, to generate a match score indicating how closely a candidate’s skills and experience align with role requirements.
These profiling activities and the role of AI is designed to assist our recruiters in identifying promising candidates. It does not make any hiring decisions; candidates are moved forward or rejected by our recruiters. All final hiring decisions are made by our human recruitment team.
2. Interview support and transcription
During the interview process, we may use AI-powered tools (such as Tactiq) to record, transcribe, and summarise interview discussions. These tools allow our recruiters to remain fully engaged with you during the conversation while ensuring an accurate and objective record of the interview is maintained for internal review. We will always ask for your consent prior to using such a tool for the interview.
Data retention
If you accept an offer of employment with us, any relevant personal data collected during your pre-employment period will become part of your employee records and will be retained in accordance with specific country requirements and with the data protection applicable to Carousell employees, which will be provided during the on-boarding process.
If your application is unsuccessful, Carousell may continue retain and use your personal data solely for the following purposes (“Additional Purposes”) for a period of no more than three (3) years, unless you request earlier deletion, solely for the following purposes:
(a) deal with any matter which may arise in connection with your application; and
(b) contact you in connection with ongoing recruitment opportunities, including positions other than what you have applied for.
