User Profile Guidelines and Username Policy
Your profile is a space where you are encouraged to share more about yourself, such as your hobbies or interests, and provide information about what you are selling, so other members of the community can get to know you better.
Here are some guidelines to follow when setting up your profile bio and profile picture:
✘ Language or image that is hateful, offensive, violent, racist, sexual, indecent, threatening, abusive, insulting, harassing, defamatory, libellous, deceptive, fraudulent, tortious, obscene, seditious, political, profane, ethnically or otherwise objectionable
✘ Directing sales out of Carousell
For safety and security reasons, we discourage the sharing of personal contact information (such as phone number, website, email, Facebook, and other personal information) in the profile description and profile name.
Carousell Regional Username Policy
The first step to setting up your account is choosing a username! Users are free to choose a username that they fancy and we recommend you to choose one that you’ll use for a long time. If you’re changing your username, check out How do I change my username.
✔ Minimum of 5 characters and up to 30 characters
✔ Can contain only lowercase letters (a–z), numbers (0–9), underscores (_), and periods (.) no more than one in a row
✘ Hateful, offensive, violent, racist, sexual, indecent, threatening, abusive, insulting, harassing, defamatory, libellous, deceptive, fraudulent, tortious, obscene, profane, ethnically or otherwise objectionable language
✘ A term that is similar to, or might be confused with, a third party's trademark or brand and/or infringes on such third party's trademark or copyright
✘ Includes the words “Carousell”, “admin” or similar misleading usernames that give the incorrect impression that the account may be officially affiliated with Carousell or any of its services
✘ Includes the word or the combination of words ‘Carousell’, 'web', 'app', 'login', 'logon', 'signup', 'signin', 'carousel' or similar to naming conventions used by Carousell’s administrative processes
Why does Carousell have such a policy?
We want users to choose a username they like, but we do not allow users to choose a username that might be offensive to others, might violate a copyright or trademark, or might mislead or confuse other members.
What can I do if a Carousell username that I want is already taken but seems inactive?
If a username that you want is taken, you can add numbers, underscores and periods to help you come up with a username that’s available.
How can I claim or report a username that is in violation of this policy?
You may contact our team and provide us with the necessary documents to claim or report the username.
Carousell's rights regarding usernames
If we detect a name that violates our policies or we consider inappropriate, we reserve the full rights to take steps to address and prevent it. This includes editing or removing the account's username/profile information, restricting, suspending or terminating the user who is in breach.
