Carousell Live Giveaways — Terms and Conditions
Carousell Pte. Ltd. ("Carousell", "we", "us" or "our") operates a live video selling feature known as "Carousell Live", through which registered sellers ("Hosts") may host live video broadcasts ("Live Shows") and offer items for sale to buyers and viewers in real time. As part of Carousell Live, a Host may set up a giveaway during a Live Show (each, a "Giveaway"), through which viewers may enter for a chance to win a prize offered by the Host (the "Prize"). These terms and conditions ("Terms") apply to every Giveaway conducted through Carousell Live. By entering or otherwise participating in a Giveaway, you are deemed to have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these Terms.
These Terms are in addition to, and should be read together with, the Carousell Terms of Service and the applicable Carousell Live guidelines, each as updated from time to time. In the event of any conflict between these Terms and the Carousell Terms of Service, these Terms shall prevail.
Eligibility and Entry Mechanism
To enter a Giveaway, you must hold a valid and active Carousell Account and be viewing the relevant Live Show while entries are open.
Entry to a Giveaway is always free. A "Giveaway" refers to an instance where a viewer gains a chance to win a Prize at no cost, by performing a task set by the Host. Carousell Live currently supports the following types of Giveaway:
Just Enter — you enter by tapping the designated entry button during the Live Show.
Follow to Enter — you enter by following the Host and tapping the designated entry button during the Live Show.
Entries are limited to one entry per Carousell Account per Giveaway, regardless of entry method. Carousell may impose additional participation limits from time to time.
The Host will select the winner of each Giveaway (the "Winner") by way of a random draw conducted live during the Live Show (the "Draw"). The Draw is conducted using Carousell’s in-app random selection tool, through which the Carousell usernames of eligible entrants are displayed and one is randomly selected as the Winner. The Draw will take place during the Live Show, and the Winner will be announced during the Live Show promptly following the Draw.
Carousell reserves the right, at its discretion, to determine the eligibility of any participant, and shall not be obliged to give any reason for any determination made in this regard.
Prize and Collection
The Prize offered in each Giveaway is determined and provided solely by the Host. Carousell does not select, own, provide, or warrant any Prize, and takes no responsibility for its condition, quality, or fitness for purpose.
The Host is solely responsible for: (a) accurately describing the Prize, including its nature, quantity, and value, before entries to the Giveaway open; (b) ensuring the Prize may lawfully be given away, including that it is not an item the giving away of which to the relevant Winner would breach any applicable law (for example, age-restricted goods, where no corresponding age-verification measure is in place); and (c) delivering or otherwise making the Prize available to the Winner.
The Winner will be notified of their win in-app promptly following the Draw. The Host shall arrange for delivery or collection of the Prize following notification.
Carousell will not cover, and is not responsible for, any cost associated with the Prize or its delivery or collection.
All Prizes are non-transferable and may not be exchanged for cash or any other item, save that the Host may, at their discretion, substitute a Prize with an item of equivalent or greater value if the original Prize becomes unavailable.
Host Obligations
A Host conducting a Giveaway must ensure that: (a) the Giveaway does not involve or resemble any prohibited gambling mechanic, game, or article (including, without limitation, any design element resembling a roulette wheel, playing cards, or mahjong tiles); (b) no participant is charged, directly or indirectly, any fee or other consideration to enter; and (c) the Giveaway otherwise complies with all applicable laws.
A Host must only use Carousell’s Giveaway feature to conduct a Giveaway in connection with a Live Show, and must not conduct a giveaway, lucky draw, or similar promotion in connection with Carousell Live by any other means or tool.
A Host must not offer cash, virtual currency, or any voucher, gift card, or other instrument redeemable for cash, as a Prize.
Before or during the Live Show, a Host must clearly state: (a) how to enter the Giveaway; (b) its duration; (c) the number of Winners; (d) details of the Prize; and (e) how the Winner will be selected and notified.
A Host is solely responsible for the Giveaway and must not represent, imply, or otherwise create the impression that Carousell is the organiser of, sponsors, or is responsible for, any Giveaway or Prize.
Carousell reserves the right to suspend, restrict, or refuse to make the Giveaway feature available to any Host who breaches these Terms, without liability to the Host.
Carousell’s Role
Carousell provides the Giveaway feature as part of Carousell Live, including the entry mechanism and the Draw tool used to conduct each Giveaway.
Save as set out in these Terms, Carousell is not a party to, and is not responsible for, the Prize offered, the conduct of the Host, or any dispute between a Host and a participant arising from or in connection with a Giveaway.
General
Carousell’s determination of matters relating to the conduct and outcome of a Draw shall be final and conclusive. No correspondence or claims in relation to the same will be entertained.
By participating in a Giveaway, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal data for purposes connected with the Giveaway (including verifying your eligibility, conducting the Draw, and notifying and delivering the Prize to the Winner), in accordance with the Carousell Privacy Policy.
Carousell may vary these Terms, and may suspend, modify, or discontinue the Giveaway feature, at any time and without liability to any participant or Host.
Carousell shall not in any event be liable for any loss, injury, damage, or harm suffered by or in connection with a Giveaway or a Prize, except to the extent such liability cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law, including liability for: (a) death or personal injury caused by negligence; or (b) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
A person who is not an eligible and qualifying participant may not enforce any of these Terms, and the consent of any such person is not required for any variation or termination of these Terms.
