How does Sell to Carousell work?
On web
To sell your device to us:
- Fill out a quick 1-minute form about your device and get a price quote from us.
- Fill in your contact details.
- Choose whether you want us to head to your preferred location for a pick-up, or drop it off at any of our partner outlets islandwide.
- We’ll confirm your appointment via WhatsApp within the next business day.
- At the appointment, our experts will do a final inspection to verify the condition of your device.
Note: The quote provided is an estimated quote based on the form you filled in. You’ll get a final quote after we inspect the device in person.
On app
1. Through the Sell button on the Carousell app, under the "Sell to Carousell" section, tap on "Mobile" to sell your phone to Carousell.
2. You will receive an indicative price quote when you provide the brand, model, body condition, screen condition, display condition and any other defects of the phone you are looking to sell.
Tip: Most of the required information of your phone can be found in your phone's “About”pages.
3. You will be offered an initial price quote. If you are satisfied with the quoted price* and would like to proceed, you can choose to either schedule a pick-up and cashout at your doorstep, or drop-off at your preferred iStudio location.
*Depending on our final assessment of the device, the final offer may differ from the initial offer . You may choose to accept or reject the final offer.
Depending on whether pick-up or drop-off is selected, a full diagnostic test of your phone will be performed at either your doorstep or one of our partner stores.
4. We’ll confirm your appointment via WhatsApp within the next business day.
5. At the appointment, our experts will do a final inspection to verify the condition of your device.
Do note that we will only accept phones that can be switched on, and the phone has to have the Carousell App downloaded.

Selling Process
What happens after I accept the quote?
Once you accept the quote, you can choose to have your device picked up from your location or drop it off at any of our partner outlets islandwide. After our team inspects the device to confirm its condition, you will receive your payment.
Will the final price I get be similar to the estimated quote I got from filling in the form?
We aim to offer you a final quote that closely matches the estimated quote. As long as you fill in the form accurately and we don’t find any major issues with your device during the physical inspection, it’s likely that you’d get what you were quoted.
Do I need to show identification when I sell my device to you?
Yes, you’ll need to provide proof of identification through Singpass, Passport, NRIC, or any relevant pass that includes your FIN. This is a requirement mandated by the Singapore Police Force.
How do I get paid?
You’ll receive cash via PayNow on the spot. We’ll inspect the condition of your device and provide a final offer. Once you accept, you’ll get paid right away.
What if I change my mind about selling my device to Carousell?
After you submit the form, our team will contact you via WhatsApp to confirm your appointment. You can cancel the process at any time before the transaction is completed by reaching out to us via WhatsApp.
I want to trade in for another device, instead of selling to Carousell. Is this possible?
Yes, you can! You can change your mind any time before you complete the sale. Just let us know via WhatsApp and we’ll guide you along.
If you’re at our partner’s store, you may make a new booking for the device you would like to trade-in and complete the transaction on the spot.
Can I sell more than one device?
Yes, you can sell as many devices to us as you’d like to. You’ll just have to fill in the form for your devices individually, to let us know the condition of each of your devices. Once we contact you via WhatsApp, let us know you’re selling multiple devices and we’ll arrange for the inspection of your devices at one go!
Can I sell more than one device for limited time promotions (eg. overtrade offers/bonuses)?
No, each limited-time promotion is applicable to one new device per purchase. To enjoy the promotion, you can only trade in one device for each new purchase. Multiple devices cannot be combined for a single promotion.
Who can sell their device to Carousell?
To sell a device to Carousell, you must be the device owner and have a valid Singapore IC number or FIN. You’ll need to provide proof of identification through Singpass, Passport, NRIC, or any relevant pass that includes your FIN. This is a requirement mandated by the Singapore Police Force.
Device Condition and Inspection
How is my device’s condition evaluated?
We conduct a thorough inspection of your device, checking the screen, body, functionality, and battery health to ensure it matches the condition described in the form.
What can I do if I disagree with the device assessment?
No worries, it’s okay if you decide not to sell your phone to us after the device assessment. Your device will be returned to you without any charges.
Will my device be rejected?
Your device will be rejected if:
- Device is reported stolen or lost
We are required by law to screen all devices through the Secondhand Goods Dealers Transaction Records System (SHOTS) to ensure they’re not reported as lost or stolen.
- Device is not working properly
Devices that are not working, iCloud or password-locked, and/or water-damaged.
- Device is not a local set
We only accept devices that have been purchased locally and are intended for local use i.e. local set.
- Device has been previously repaired
We only accept devices that are in original condition. Devices with repair or service history will be rejected.
Will I get a higher quote for my device if it has an existing warranty?
No, you will not. Since it’s not possible for us to transfer the ownership of the warranty legally, an existing warranty would not fetch a higher price.
Pick-up and Drop-off
How does the pick-up service work?
If you chose the ‘At your doorstep’ option in the form, you’d be able to enter your preferred pick-up location. Our team will meet you at your preferred location and time to verify your device’s condition on the spot. If your phone condition matches the description you provided and no issues are detected, we’ll PayNow you right away.
What locations are available for pick-up?
You can choose a location anywhere in Singapore, except offshore islands and restricted areas such as airports and military bases.
How soon can I schedule a pick-up?
While pick-up slots are subject to availability, you can schedule one as early as the next day!
Can I make changes to my pick-up address?
For any changes to your pick-up details or booking, contact us via WhatsApp.
How long would the pick-up process take?
Upon meeting with our team, inspection, validation and payment should take no more than 20 mins.
How do I cancel my pick-up request?
Just WhatsApp us to let us know!
How does the drop-off service work?
We partner with different retailers (Challenger, iStudio, Best Denki, Gain City) with stores islandwide. In the form, choose your preferred drop-off location and make an appointment. After inspecting your device, payments or trade-ins will also be done at our partner store.
Data Security
Should I delete all my data before selling my phone?
We advise you to delete all personal data from your phone only after accepting our final offer price and choosing to sell. If you didn’t delete your data before the appointment, you don’t have to worry either! Our technical team will erase all your data via solutions certified by Singapore’s Cyber Security Agency.
Please ensure that all user account locks e.g. iCloud, Samsung Cloud are removed upon accepting the offers.
I have a lot of sensitive information on my device. How do you ensure my data is securely erased?
For maximum security, your device undergoes a data erasure process beyond a factory reset. We utilise solutions certified by Singapore’s Cyber Security Agency so you can sell your device to us with peace of mind.
Here’s an analogy:
Think of your device as a book, and your data as the contents. A factory reset removes the table of contents, but your pictures and information in the book still exist. Our data erasure solution rips apart the table of contents, pages of pictures and information, and replaces them with new pages. This ensures all your data is safely destroyed.
Trade-Ins and Trade-Ups
Can I trade in my device with Carousell i.e. sell my old device to offset the cost of purchasing a new one?
Yes, you can! You’ll have to head down to our HQ at 79 Ayer Rajah Crescent (5 mins from one-north MRT station). Link to Google Maps here.
To trade in your phone:
- Browse our catalogue of pre-loved phones at @carousellmobile, or brand new, sealed iPhones at @carouselliphonestore
- Chat with us on a listing you’re interested in buying and let us know that you want to trade in your used phone.
- We’ll send you a link to a 1-minute form to give you an estimated price quote* for your phone
- If you’re satisfied with the trade-in price (and the new phone you want to buy), schedule an appointment to meet us at our HQ.
- Our service staff will handle the rest! We’ll securely erase all your data from your device, and you’ll get your new phone.

What are trade-up / overtrade campaigns?
Occasionally, we’ll run trade-up / overtrade programs. These are special promotions that allow you to trade in your used device for additional credit towards the purchase of a new device or receive additional cash bonuses after purchase i.e. your used device is valued at a much higher price than a trade-in. We partner with brands and retailers to run these programs to help you upgrade to the latest models at a lower cost.
Participating in a trade-up / overtrade program can maximise the value of your old device while making the upgrade process more affordable.
