Avoid these latest scams in Taiwan! We update these safety advisories regularly to share with users what to look out for and how to protect themselves.

• [Jan 2022] Be careful of scammers posing as buyers who can’t place orders successfully! They typically provide a fake Carousell customer service QR code to sellers, who are then directed to a fake customer live chat that asks for the victim’s credit card details to complete a “Caroubiz” verification/authentication. Subsequently, however, the payment is not refunded. Please exercise precaution by always reaching out to our support team via official channels (link here), and verify new services or workflows with our official team. For instance, take note that Caroubiz has not been launched in the Taiwan market yet!
  
  
• [Oct 2021] Beware of scammers who pretend to be interested buyers and initiate chats that direct conversations outside of Carousell (usually on Line) and payment methods on third party systems (usually cryptocurrency platforms). These scammers will then claim they accidentally transferred additional amounts of money, which they can only get back when sellers transfer the money to certain accounts on the third party system. Once the seller follows the scammer’s instructions, their money will not be refunded and the scammer will go missing-in-action. Make sure to always keep your conversations with buyers within the platform, and only use familiar payment methods!
  
  
• [Jul 2021] We’ve noticed a rise in cases where scammers include their Line ID in listing descriptions and direct conversations outside of Carousell. After buyers make payment, the scammers then go missing. Avoid being a victim of such scams by keeping conversations within Carousell, and go through verification badges and reviews in profile pages to see what others who've dealt with the user have to share about their experiences.
  
  
• [Jun 2021] Came across an offer that sound too good to be true? It could be a scam!
 We've noticed scammers who list popular items such as brand-new Airpods, Swtich, PS5, mobiles, tablets at attractive prices and ask for deposit or full payment before items are shipped out. When the payment is received, the seller goes missing-in-action. Common sense is king! Use your gut feel and logical reasoning to assess the sensibility of each deal. Also, always remember that Carousell’s 7-Eleven cash on delivery service is an option for you!
