Carousell is still operating, with business as usual. However, in view of Phase 1 and circuit breaker measures and new regulations in Singapore, we’d like to provide some clarification and advisory with regards to Carousell transactions.
1. Can I continue to sell on Carousell?
Yes, you can continue selling your items on Carousell. However, sellers should provide buyers with shipping and delivery options, instead of meet-ups. We highly encourage sellers to enable delivery through Carousell Protection during this period to safeguard yourself, your buyers and your transactions.
2. Can I still do meet-ups?
No, please opt for mailing and contactless delivery over meet-ups during this period. More information on delivery services can be found below. Meet-ups are still not allowed during Phase 1.
3. Can I do self-collection during this period?
No, stay at home and avoid non-essential activities. If you need an item urgently, opt for delivery services.
4. What are my delivery options?
We highly recommend opting for delivery, with Carousell Protection, so that sellers minimise activities outside of their homes. Carousell has partnered with several local delivery service providers likeGOGOVAN, uParcel, Ninja Van and Singapore Post to offer exclusive shipping rates during this stay-home period. You may find more information about these exclusive rates here.
5. As a seller, how do I mail parcels within Singapore?
All you need to mail your items are packing materials (e.g. poly mailers, boxes, padded envelopes, bubble wrap) and postage stamps! You can find them at post offices, supermarkets’ stationery aisle, or Carousell. Digitally-printed stamps can also be bought from self-service automated machines (SAM) kiosks. You can locate your nearest SAM kiosk here (there are close to 290 of them islandwide!).
Once your item has been well-packaged, simply drop them at your nearest post office or posting box. Take note of the adjusted operating hours for post offices! All self-service options, including POPStations and SAM machines, will continue to operate all day.
When opting for delivery, we encourage both sellers and buyers to deal through Carousell Protection to secure your transactions.
6. What is considered an essential service, if I’d like to engage one on Carousell?
According to government regulations, essential services include the following:
- Movers & delivery
- Aircon repairs
- Home repairs (only for emergency household services)
- Repair of consumer electronics, IT peripherals, and household appliances
- F&B outlets excluding standalone outlets selling mainly beverages, packaged snacks, confectioneries or desserts
- Food caterers
Services that are not available during circuit breaker include:
- Aircon servicing
- Mobile phone sales
- Home renovation & interior design
- Home cleaning
- Tuition services (except online)
- Health & Beauty services (e.g. pedicure, eyebrow embroidery, eyelash extension)
- Hairdressing & barber services
- Home-based businesses that do not comply with government regulations
A list of essential services can be found here. We advise users to check and comply with the Government's circuit breaker regulations and take precautionary measures should you require essential services.
In order to help users identify essential service providers which have MTI approval to continue operations, Carousell has created an “Essential” tag (pictured below). This tag is enabled by merchants when they list their service or update their listing. Merchants will self-verify that they have the necessary documentation. Before engaging any essential services, even if the listing is tagged as “Essential”, users must correspond with the merchant to ensure that they have the necessary documentation from MTI.
