Why do I need to verify my mobile number?
If you are a seller, it is a requirement to verify your mobile number for your listings to be successfully listed onto the marketplace. By verifying your mobile number, we give our community more confidence in trusting one another, in creating a safer and more enjoyable marketplace. A phone-verified badge will be added onto your profile once you've successfully verified your number. This badge is visible to all on the marketplace.
Please note that when you change your profile country location, you will need to verify your phone number again.
How do I verify my mobile number?
It's simple! Here are the steps to do so:
- Go to your profile ('Me' tab)
- Go to Settings
- Select 'Edit Profile'
- Under Private Profile, enter your mobile phone number and tap on 'Get Confirmation Code'.
- You should receive a 4-digit code via SMS shortly. Enter the 4-digit code and select "Verify Code".
Congratulations on getting phone-verified! Once you're successfully verified, you’ll be able to see a mobile phone icon displayed on your profile.
Alternatively, if you've just listed your item, you'll be brought to a new page to enter your mobile number. Fill it in and select “Verify Now”.
A 4-digit code will be sent to your phone via SMS shortly. Enter the 4-digit code and select “Verify Code” – that’s it! Your account will be successfully phone-verified, and your listings will be successfully listed onto the marketplace.
What is a valid mobile number?
A valid mobile number is one that matches the format of the country your profile settings is set to be in, and has not been used to verify a different Carousell account before.
How do I change my verified mobile number?
Changed your mobile number? No problem! Go to your Profile > Settings > Edit Profile to update your mobile phone number.
Will my mobile number be revealed to other users?
No, we take privacy very seriously at Carousell and your phone number will not be revealed publicly to any other user.
My mobile number is already used in another account. What happens when I verify this account anyway?
When you successfully verify your mobile number in the new account, the original account(s) with the same phone number becomes unverified.
If you are the owner of both accounts and would like to keep both accounts verified with the same mobile number, please reach out to us and let us know why. Carousell users in Singapore are only allowed to have 1 account.
An email will be sent to the other account if the mobile number is unverified. Listings belonging to a Carousell account without a verified mobile number will not be visible in the marketplace. They’ll be required to verify their mobile number again.
