I’m still not receiving push notifications

Push Notifications may sometimes get disabled for your device if multiple accounts are being logged in and out of frequently. This occurs due to a loss and mismatch of Push tokens paired to device. We've laid out a few scenarios for more common push notification issues but in some cases, the issue with Push Notification lies with APNs or GCM. 

Here are some ways to troubleshoot more common push issues: 

For iOS

If you have enabled Push Notifications on both your iOS and Carousell settings but still cannot receive push notifications for your Carousell account, this may be resolved by refreshing your Push Notifications token. Do this by performing the steps below, while Carousell is running in the background:

  1. Open iOS settings
  2. Select Notifications
  3. Locate the Carousell app on the menu and select it
  4. Set "Allow Notifications" to active
  5. Set "Sounds" and "Show in Notification Centre" to active

If you have logged in to different Carousell accounts on the same iOS device, restore push notifications by performing the steps outlined below:

  1. Log out of your current session
  2. Relogin to your account
  3. Kill the Carousell app by double-tapping the home button and sliding the Carousell app upwards
  4. Relaunch the Carousell app

If all the above fails, reinstall your Carousell app from the App Store.

For Android

If you have enabled Push Notifications on both your Android and Carousell settings but still cannot receive push notifications for your Carousell account, check the following to ensure that your phone settings are not blocking push notifications from being received promptly:

  1. Go to your settings and ensure that Priority Mode is disabled or that Carousell is enabled on Priority Mode
  2. Ensure that Restrict Background Data is unchecked for Carousell and Google Services
  3. Check that notifications apps such as Clean Master is deactivated for Carousell

If notifications are still not received on your device, perform the following to restore your Push Notifications token:

  1. Open Carousell and log out of your current session
  2. Relogin to your Carousell account
  3. Force-quit the Carousell app by going to your Settings > Applications Manager > Force Stop/Quit (or similar steps)
  4. Relaunch the Carousell app

If all the above fails, reinstall your Carousell app from the Play Store.
